As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. But sometimes, you get even more than you pay for. A great movie might be worth more than the $13 you paid for admission. And a great pair of shoes could outlast its $130 price tag and protect your feet from the elements for years. But what are the best cars for the money? That’s the question U.S. News and World Reports has asked every year since 2008 with their aptly-named “Best Cars for the Money” report. And, with the 2015 results released today, the answer is pretty clear: The best car for the money is the Lexus RX 350, which won the award for luxury two-row midsize SUV. This marks a record-setting 7th consecutive appearance for RX on a list that began just eight years ago. “The Lexus RX 350 has won seven consecutive Best Cars for the Money awards,” the publication wrote. “With its serene cabin and coddling ride, it’s not hard to see why. With low ownership costs and plenty of reviewer praise, the Lexus RX 350 is the 2015 Best Luxury 2-Row SUV for the Money.” A pair of Toyotas earned awards, as well. Camry Hybrid won the Hybrid Car category and Highlander Hybrid won for hybrid SUVs. The three combined honors for Toyota and Lexus are the second most of any automaker. On Wednesday, December 17 th, 2014, Max Paul’s Ardmore Toyota presented a check to Lower Merion Community Watch(LMCW) so that the organization can purchase new, two-way radios. The presentation was held in the Ardmore Toyota showroom and included 50 employees of Ardmore Toyota, including Brad Paul and Ryan Pesin, Matt Peskin, President, Lower Merion Community Watch; Michael McGrath, Superintendent, Lower Merion Police Department; and Elizabeth Rogan, President, Lower Merion Township Board of Commissioners. On Wednesday December 17th, Max Paul's Ardmore Toyota made a $500 Donation to Living Beyond Breast Cancer. (LBBC) Ryan Pesin and Susie Pesin made the donation in recognition of the customers who visited in October and test drove a new Toyota. Receiving the check for LBBC was Vice President, Sandy Martin. LBBC was founded in 1991 by radiation oncologist Marisa C. Weiss, MD, in response to a woman's need for breast-cancer-related information, connection and support after completing treatment. Today, LBBC has expanded to assist people at all stages of diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Their mission includes offering specialized programs and services for the newly diagnosed, young women, those living with metastatic breast cancer, African-Americans, those diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer and LGBT people affected by breast cancer. LBBC also offers programs for caregivers and healthcare professionals to help them better meet the needs of people affected by breast cancer. On Thursday December 18 th, 2014, over 200 children from the West Philadelphia community got to meet Santa and get gifts. Sponsored by Ardmore Toyota & Central City Toyota this annual Christmas Celebration took place at Max Paul Park at 46 th & Market Streets. Over 200 Gifts were given out to local children community. Santa Claus was on hand giving out gifts to over 200 children. There were Christmas Carolers, Warm Apple Cider, Candy Canes, Gingerbread Cookies and Pizza! On Friday December 12th, 2014 Max Paul's Ardmore Toyota participated in the Annual Toyota Tundra Food Drive to Citizens Bank Park. On hand from Ardmore Toyota were Ryan Pesin, Qasim Azad and Rich Rosenbaum. Each drove a new 2015 Tundra with a Pallet of Food that was delivered to Philabundance. Ryan had the opportunity to drive along with former Flyer Todd Fedoruk and represent Ardmore Toyota as well as the Philadelphia Flyers Charities with Todd.   With the generous support from the Tri-State Toyota Dealers Association, Toyota Regions and Media and Sports Partners, the Tri-State Toyota Dealers delivered over 125,000 pounds of food (over 75 Tundra Trucks with Pallets) to Philabundance! On Friday December 12th ,2014 Max Paul's Ardmore Toyota helped present a new 2015 Toyota Camry LE to the winner of the Montgomery Child Advocacy Project (MCAP) Camry Raffle. On hand for the presentation were Mary Pugh, Executive Director of MCAP, Ryan Pesin, VP of Marketing for Ardmore Toyota & Central City Toyota, Qasim Azad, Sales Associate of Ardmore Toyota and the winner of the new 2015 Toyota Camry Patricia Hoban as well as her husband. Patti was the winner of the raffle that was done by MCAP and she won a new 2015 Toyota Camry LE courtesy of MCAP and Ardmore Toyota.   MCAP is a 501(c)(3) organization located in Norristown, Pennsylvania. MCAP provides free legal representation to children who are the victims of abuse and neglect in Montgomery County. Every day in Montgomery County, children suffer abuse and neglect. Too often, they are harmed by someone close to them, often a family member. MCAP attorney advocates represent and protect the interests of these vulnerable children, offering them representation and support as they participate in the legal and social service arenas. On Monday November 24 th, Max Paul’s Ardmore Toyota celebrated their First Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day with over 100 members of the Lower Merion Police Department. They were entertained with a wonderful catered Lunch and enjoyed come great camaraderie with Ardmore Toyota employees as well as their fellow co-workers in the Showroom of Ardmore Toyota. When seasons change, so does technology. Did you know that many people experience their Tire Pressure Light coming on when the cold fall weather first arrives? Weather causes your tire pressure to change. Cold temperatures may result in your tires to be underinflated. Meanwhile, warmer weather may result in your tires being overinflated. Technology in most cars today includes a tire pressure monitor built in for each wheel that is always taking a measurement of the inflation of that tire. A deviation from the recommended inflation pressure of your tires will cause the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) on your car to be activated. Most TPMS measure your tires when they become significantly underinflated, and not overinflated. How does weather have an impact on the tires of your vehicle? Tires on a vehicle are inflated with air for the most part*. There is a basic relationship between the change in temperature and pressure. When the temperature outside the tire changes, it will affect the pressure inside the tire. When fall season arrives, the cooler temperatures will almost certainly lower your tire pressure. Your tire pressure was most likely set during the hotter summer months, and the first major cold wave will cause the air to contract inside your tire, lowering the pressure, thus setting off your Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor (ie: TPMS). If one of your tires is underinflated already, then the TPMS alarm is more prone to go off. If your car is outside (as opposed to a garage) it is more likely to be affected by the colder weather. Preventative Maintenance for your tires If you don’t want to experience the TPMS light coming up on your dashboard, it is recommended that you are checking your tire pressure on a monthly basis. Checking in the morning when the tires are colder is the best time to do this. Friction between the rubber of your tire and the road causes tires to heat up. This increases the pressure inside your tire. As a result, checking tire pressure after driving will likely give a reading that is incorrectly a higher pressure reading. If you notice the TPMS light illuminate on your dashboard, you should visit your service center to check your tire inflation right away. If you drive on underinflated tires, this could hurt you in two ways. First, it will negatively affect gas mileage. Second, it will speed up the process of your tire wear and will likely result in a safety hazard which of poor and dangerous handling. The more friction created between the rubber of the tire and the asphalt (driving on underinflated tires) can cause your tires to overheat. This increases the risk of a blowout. *Always resort to your owner's manual for your vehicles recommended cold tire inflation PSI. *Some service centers use nitrogen: Nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen molecules and air Seepage is thus reduced through the tire walls and where the tire meets the rim. On Saturday September 3 rd, 2014, Ardmore Scion participated in the annual Philadelphia Weekly College Fest Free 4 All Celebration. Students from UPenn, Drexel, LaSalle, Temple, Saint Joseph’s and Villanova were among the thousands who attended. There was food, Music, prizes and more. Ardmore Scion had a new 2014 Scion tC and a prize wheel. Hundreds of Scion Prizes were given out, including Apple iPad Mini’s and Gift Cards to Restaurants in University City.
