We know your family is important to you. That's why it's so important to make memories with your children and to spend time together. But coming up with new fun things to do on a regular basis can be challenging and expensive. To help you with that, we've compiled our list of the top five free activities kids will love in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

Andorra Natural Area

Kids love nature. Bugs, flowers, animals, and, of course, dirt all seem to gravitate towards kids and vice versa. If you bring your kids to the Andorra Natural Area, you'll get to see some of the most beautiful landscapes in Pennsylvania up close and personal. At Andorra, you can go for hikes, ride bikes, go on an animal-spotting scavenger hunt, and more. Admission to the area is free, and the visitor's center is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.

Boathouse Row

Located right on the banks of the Schuylkill River, Boathouse Row is an amazing way to explore the river. Children will love getting their picture taken with the Rocky statue, riding bikes along the shore, and watching the boats traverse the intricate river bends. Surrounding Boathouse Row are several museums, which offer free and discounted admission on special days of the year. Hang out on the docks during the day to watch artists at work or stop by at night to see the entire coast lit up in gorgeous lights.

Dad Vail Regatta

The Dad Vail Regatta is the largest collegiate boat race in the United States. Spend all day watching the boats from more than 100 American and Canadian colleges and universities compete on the Schuylkill River. Help your kids pick a boat to follow and cheer on during the races or explore the majesty of these boats as they dock before and after the race.

Fireman's Hall Museum

All kids love superheroes. So why not introduce your children to the home of real-life superheroes at the Fireman's Hall Museum? Admission to the museum is free, but donations are accepted and used to maintain the exhibits. The Fireman's Hall Museum features tools, garb, and artifacts from local firehouses dating back to the 1800s. It even includes the PFD Kids Zone where children can play games, learn about fire safety, and participate in fun activities.

Locust Walk

Help your children envision a future full of education and possibilities by taking them through the Locust Walk. The path runs through the middle of the University of Pennsylvania, which was founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1740 and is one of the nation's eight Ivy League schools. The Locust Walk passes through gorgeous architecture, fantastic museums, and stunning campus grounds. Your kids will love to run, play, enjoy photo ops, and envision their future along the path. How We Donate and Give Back to the Philadelphia Community

Providing affordable transportation is not the only way we give back to the Philadelphia community. Ardmore Toyota is active in community donations, fundraisers and other goodwill events and proudly sponsors a number of charitable organizations in the greater Philadelphia area. Learn about just some of the ways we serve our community below. Community Donations Among our most recent community donations took place on Oct. 6, 2020 as we supported the Lower Merion Police Department with the National Night Out Drive Thru. We loaded up a Toyota Tacoma full of boxes of food to be delivered to ElderNet of Lower Merion and the Narberth Community Food Bank. ElderNet provides a variety of free healthcare and food security services to improve the quality of life for older and disabled neighbors with low to moderate incomes. The Narberth Community Food Bank provides food assistance for residents of the Narberth and Lower Merion communities who are in need. We also recently made a donation to support the publishing of a children’s book written by a former employee that promotes improved relationships between police and the communities they serve. Other community donations have included food drives, winter coat drives and more. Additional Community Engagement Ardmore Toyota is a past recipient of the Shining Star Award, which recognizes persons, businesses, and organizations who leave positive impressions on the community. Just a few of our many recent initiatives include: Hosting local leaders to celebrate Women’s Day as part of Press for Progress. Hosting an annual Christmas celebration that provides presents, prizes, and refreshments for area residents. Operating our annual Driving Away The Cold program that provides winter coats for underprivileged youth. Supporting the Katie At The Bat Team, which empowers young girls in underserved areas of Philadelphia by helping them participate in sports, education, leadership training, and character development. We also like to show our support simply by building and maintaining awareness about upcoming events and happenings near Philadelphia. Nahjee Grant childrens book

Join Us in a Children’s Book Donation Drive

Ardmore Toyota has quite a history of community involvement, and the dealership’s latest efforts tackle an issue that is at the forefront of society today: Police and community relations. Ardmore Toyota has made a donation to support a former employee in publishing a children’s book about improving relationships between police and the communities in which they serve. And we’d love for you to also make a donation to help see this project through. Funding Nahjee Grant’s Next Children’s Book Aron Goes to the Police Academy is the latest work of Nahjee Grant, a former Ardmore Toyota employee and civic leader who has gone on to publish 12 children’s books including Aron Goes to the White House Science Fair and Aron Runs for Class President. Grant’s latest work takes on a touchy subject in a way that is fun and lighthearted but with a clear and direct message, and it draws on some of the real-world work he has done to bridge the gap between police and the community. Bringing His Story to Life Grant is utilizing the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo to fund the costs associated with publishing the book and bringing it to bookshelves and police departments all across the country. The money raised will help pay for the book’s illustrations rendered by a freelance artist, formatting, ISBN registration, proof printing, and curriculum production. Grant hopes to initially publish 1,000 books to distribute to police departments that are associated with the Race for Peace organization, which is made up of members of law enforcement, clergy, government, and citizens from the greater Philadelphia area. Donate Today Grant’s crowdfunding campaign ends on August 12, and he could use your help to cross the finish line. To donate or to learn more about the book and Nahjee himself, visit the project page here. To show his appreciation to everyone who makes a donation, Nahjee is offering up some limited-edition rewards including early access to the book. We encourage you to make a donation to help bring Nahjee’s idea to life and to inspire change in the Philadelphia community and beyond.
