How We Donate and Give Back to the Philadelphia Community

Providing affordable transportation is not the only way we give back to the Philadelphia community. Ardmore Toyota is active in community donations, fundraisers and other goodwill events and proudly sponsors a number of charitable organizations in the greater Philadelphia area. Learn about just some of the ways we serve our community below. Community Donations Among our most recent community donations took place on Oct. 6, 2020 as we supported the Lower Merion Police Department with the National Night Out Drive Thru. We loaded up a Toyota Tacoma full of boxes of food to be delivered to ElderNet of Lower Merion and the Narberth Community Food Bank. ElderNet provides a variety of free healthcare and food security services to improve the quality of life for older and disabled neighbors with low to moderate incomes. The Narberth Community Food Bank provides food assistance for residents of the Narberth and Lower Merion communities who are in need. We also recently made a donation to support the publishing of a children’s book written by a former employee that promotes improved relationships between police and the communities they serve. Other community donations have included food drives, winter coat drives and more. Additional Community Engagement Ardmore Toyota is a past recipient of the Shining Star Award, which recognizes persons, businesses, and organizations who leave positive impressions on the community. Just a few of our many recent initiatives include: Hosting local leaders to celebrate Women’s Day as part of Press for Progress. Ardmore Toyota Participates in Philabundance Food Drive

We at Ardmore Toyota were privileged to participate in the 12th annual Philabundance “Haul Away Hunger” event in our community. Read more about the Toyota Tundra Food Drive, how it impacted those in need, and how you can get involved. Annual Haul Away Hunger Event On December 14, 2018, we were able to do our part to help Philabundance, an organization that battles hunger in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the Toyota Tundra Food Drive. During this event we, along with Tri-State Toyota dealers, partners in Toyota Financial Services, the Central Atlantic and New York sales regions of Toyota Motor North America, and ToyotaLift, delivered more than 350,000 meals — an amount that could help feed families in need into the New Year. Over 75 Toyota trucks, including the 2019 Toyota Tundra made the 7-mile trip to Citizens Bank Park hauling pallets amounting to about 180 tons of food, which surpassed the previous year by an impressive 10 tons. The 360,000 pounds offers enough fresh produce to feed 18,000 people for just a week, an impact that many families count on. Thanks to the supporters, media personalities, local sports icons, mascots and cheerleaders, it was definitely an event to remember in the city of brotherly love. Making A Difference In Our Community With Philabundance Philabundance, a member of Feeding America, is an organization that helps fight hunger locally. Hunger affects 1 in 8 people in the United States, including 1 in 5 people in the Philadelphia area alone, which is just one of the reasons this organization is so important to us. Philabundance serves 90,000 hungry people a week, 30% of whom are children and 16% of whom are seniors. To find out how you can get involved with Philabundance, visit www.philabundance.org, and be sure to keep a lookout for the hashtags #TundraFoodDrive and #HaulAwayHunger on your social media platforms to find local events. There’s plenty of room for everyone to get involved in combating food insecurity in our community. Driving Away the Cold: Winter Coat Drive at Ardmore Toyota

This winter, Ardmore Toyota participated in the Auto Dealers Association’s Driving Away the Cold program. We were able to donate a total of 100 coats to two non-profit organizations in our local Philadelphia community: the Ardmore Avenue Community Center and the People’s Emergency Center. Our team was excited to kick off the season of giving by supporting the community in which we work and live, just as we’ve done for over 100 years. Driving Away the Cold Driving Away the Cold is an annual event in which car dealerships and their customers, vendors, and employees purchase coats for children in need. There are about 175,000 kids living in poverty in the greater Philadelphia area. As the bitter cold of winter sets in, a new coat of their own can help put a smile on their face and keep them safe and healthy. The coats donated came in a range of colors and styles. Ardmore Toyota’s 100-coat donation was distributed to two organizations we feel passionate about and whose missions align with our own. The Ardmore Avenue Community Center is dedicated to helping youth in the South Ardmore area by supporting them with educational, recreational, cultural, and social resources. The People’s Emergency Center helps strengthen West Philadelphia by supporting families and youth who are experiencing homelessness. By donating the coats to these non-profits, we hope to reach the kids who need them most. Our Legacy of Community Involvement Continues Community involvement has been an integral part of Ardmore Toyota’s foundation since the very beginning. We believe that even the smallest accomplishments can have a big impact. Over the years, we’ve supported dozens of local organizations, but more recently, our staff teamed up to donate Thanksgiving food and to participate in the Lower Merion Police Department’s Special Olympics Torch Run. If you’d like to learn more about how you can help our underprivileged neighbors in the greater Philadelphia area, we encourage you to reach out to the Ardmore Avenue Community Center in Ardmore or to the People’s Emergency Center. If you have any questions about Ardmore Toyota or our outreach efforts, please stop by the dealership or contact us today.
