It is apparent that the winter season has officially arrived when the temperatures drop and it takes a little more time to warm the car in the mornings. Many families prepare for the season by going coat shopping, winter-proofing their homes, and pulling their sweaters out of storage. For singles, the preparations might involve a few extra blankets and a Netflix subscription. Although the weather change requires certain preparations, cold weather doesn't necessarily mean that everyone is forced to stay in. In fact, there are plenty of fun outdoor activities near Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

1. Say Hello to Santa

There is no better way to celebrate the season than a visit with Santa. The Ardmore fire company hosts an annual tree lighting each year. This year's event will take place on Saturday, November 26^th from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests can expect an assortment of smiles, holiday cheer, arts and crafts, and entertainment all within the Suburban Square courtyard at Anderson and Coulter Avenue.

2. Shopping for Unique

For those seeking unique items to decorate their homes or one of a kind gifts, the award-winning Clover Market is a top choice. Each year, the market hosts incredible events where authentic vendors can present merchandise. Visitors can find a large variety of cool items like creative art, handmade jewelry, distinctive clothing, and home décor. They can also enjoy a few fun activities for the kids. The winter market takes place in January at the 23^rd Street Armory. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

3. Something Brew

What better way to warm those cold toes and fingers than beer? The Winter Beer fest happens each year just in time. On November 26, those with an acquired taste for bubbly beverages can enjoy a wide assortment of cold brews for under $50. There's also huge assortment of food and gift items available during two session from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 9 p.m. Last year's list included Weyenbacher, Forgotten Boardwalk brewing, and Susquehanna brewing.

4. The Scenic Route

Valley Forge National Historic Park is another great way to kick off the season. Those who love the outdoors can enjoy over 60 miles of terrain fit for bike riding or casual strolls. They can also learn a little history while they are there. One of the parks most memorable events during the winter is the March in of the Continental Army that takes place on December 19. This occasion is marked by a night time camp simulation and a visit by General Washington. The Park is conveniently accessible from I-75 or I-95. Whether visiting the Ardmore area or making long-term relocation plans this winter, everyone can find a reason to get out and enjoy the season. Singles can take a long walk at the historic park nearby or taste test various brews of beer at the Winter Beer Fest. Families can browse unique offerings or take photos with Santa Claus. Ardmore Toyota Celebrates Thanksgiving by Giving to Those in Need

Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway Here at Ardmore Toyota, we know we’re immensely lucky to have the great gift of being a trusted source for buying and servicing vehicles in Ardmore, PA. When we come to work each day, we’re dedicated to continuing to earn that trust by giving each customer the best possible level of service. This holiday season, we wanted to give back to that community, which is why we joined Walnut Hill Neighbors, The Enterprise Center, and Central City Toyota in helping to make sure those in need in Ardmore have enough this Thanksgiving. On November 22 nd, 2021, we got together at Max Paul Park (4610 Market Street) and helped to give out Thanksgiving meals to over 300 families. Each family was given a turkey and a variety of different sides and desserts to ensure they had plenty to eat. We are very thankful for all that we have this year and are honored to join other members of the community in giving back. How We Donate and Give Back to the Philadelphia Community

Providing affordable transportation is not the only way we give back to the Philadelphia community. Ardmore Toyota is active in community donations, fundraisers and other goodwill events and proudly sponsors a number of charitable organizations in the greater Philadelphia area. Learn about just some of the ways we serve our community below. Community Donations Among our most recent community donations took place on Oct. 6, 2020 as we supported the Lower Merion Police Department with the National Night Out Drive Thru. We loaded up a Toyota Tacoma full of boxes of food to be delivered to ElderNet of Lower Merion and the Narberth Community Food Bank. ElderNet provides a variety of free healthcare and food security services to improve the quality of life for older and disabled neighbors with low to moderate incomes. The Narberth Community Food Bank provides food assistance for residents of the Narberth and Lower Merion communities who are in need. We also recently made a donation to support the publishing of a children’s book written by a former employee that promotes improved relationships between police and the communities they serve. Other community donations have included food drives, winter coat drives and more. Additional Community Engagement Ardmore Toyota is a past recipient of the Shining Star Award, which recognizes persons, businesses, and organizations who leave positive impressions on the community. Just a few of our many recent initiatives include: Hosting local leaders to celebrate Women’s Day as part of Press for Progress. Hosting an annual Christmas celebration that provides presents, prizes, and refreshments for area residents. Operating our annual Driving Away The Cold program that provides winter coats for underprivileged youth. Supporting the Katie At The Bat Team, which empowers young girls in underserved areas of Philadelphia by helping them participate in sports, education, leadership training, and character development. Join Us in a Children’s Book Donation Drive

Ardmore Toyota has quite a history of community involvement, and the dealership’s latest efforts tackle an issue that is at the forefront of society today: Police and community relations. Ardmore Toyota has made a donation to support a former employee in publishing a children’s book about improving relationships between police and the communities in which they serve. And we’d love for you to also make a donation to help see this project through. Funding Nahjee Grant’s Next Children’s Book Aron Goes to the Police Academy is the latest work of Nahjee Grant, a former Ardmore Toyota employee and civic leader who has gone on to publish 12 children’s books including Aron Goes to the White House Science Fair and Aron Runs for Class President. Grant’s latest work takes on a touchy subject in a way that is fun and lighthearted but with a clear and direct message, and it draws on some of the real-world work he has done to bridge the gap between police and the community. Bringing His Story to Life Grant is utilizing the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo to fund the costs associated with publishing the book and bringing it to bookshelves and police departments all across the country. The money raised will help pay for the book’s illustrations rendered by a freelance artist, formatting, ISBN registration, proof printing, and curriculum production. Grant hopes to initially publish 1,000 books to distribute to police departments that are associated with the Race for Peace organization, which is made up of members of law enforcement, clergy, government, and citizens from the greater Philadelphia area. Donate Today Grant’s crowdfunding campaign ends on August 12, and he could use your help to cross the finish line.
