The Method of the Study<\/span><\/h2>\n

The data for this 2020 study compiled any problems reported by the original owners of 3-year-old vehicles manufactured in 2017. These problems were grouped and categorized into eight major categories and examined in detail. The results provide valuable insights regarding which models and car manufacturers show the greatest improvements in dependability compared to previous years.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Results are In<\/span><\/h2>\n

Vehicle Dependability Is Improving<\/span><\/h3>\n

While the study shows a slowed rate of improvement, 2020 marks the best performance for automakers in history. According to the study, the overall vehicle dependability improved 1.5% from 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

Crossovers and SUVs Are Improving<\/span><\/h3>\n

While crossovers and SUVs have consistently shown more reported problems than cars over the years, the gap is narrowing considerably compared to previous years. This means the quality and dependability of crossovers and SUVs is improving and that car manufacturers are giving the same level of attention to these models.<\/span><\/p>\n

In-Vehicle Technology Shows the Highest Rate of Improvement<\/span><\/h3>\n

The highest and yet most improved category of reported problems is in-vehicle technology. Specifically, this includes Audio\/Communication\/Entertainment\/Navigation (ACEN).<\/span><\/p>\n

Toyota Is One of the Highest-Ranked Brands<\/span><\/h3>\n

Toyota Motor Corporation received the highest number of segment awards and is in the top five ranking car manufacturers out of the 32 brands included in this study. Some of the models recognized in the study for highest dependability include the <\/span>Toyota 4Runner<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Toyota Avalon<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Toyota Sienna<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Toyota Tundra<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
