Overview
The 2010 Toyota Tacoma is a 2- or 4-door, up to 5-passenger compact pickup truck available in Regular Cab, Access Cab, Double Cab and X-Runner in 4x2 and 4x4 models. The Tacoma is a solidly built, capable pickup truck with a maximum towing capacity of 6,500 pounds. It was upgraded with fresh styling and new technological and safety features for 2009. For 2010, it is mainly a carryover model. The Tacoma received the Best Overall Value, Best Resale Value and Top Safety Pick awards in 2009.
Powertrain And Performance
Two engine variants are offered on the 2010 Toyota Tacoma: a 159-horsepower 2.7-liter Inline four-cylinder and 236-horsepower 4.0-liter V-6. A four-speed automatic, five-speed manual, five-speed automatic, and six-speed manual (X-Runner only) transmissions are available. Estimated fuel economy of the Tacoma Regular and Access Cabs is a decent 20/26 mpg (city/highway), while the Double Cab achieves 17/21 mpg (city/highway). Fuel economy of the sporty 2009 Tacoma X-Runner model is estimated to be 15/19 mpg (city/highway).
Build And Styling
The 2010 Toyota Tacoma has a functional cabin with plenty of storage space, easy-to-operate controls, and clear gauges. The comfort and convenience features include fabric-trimmed front bucket seats with passenger-side fold-flat seat; adjustable headrests; defroster-linked air conditioning; power windows and door locks; overhead console with map lights; garage door opener bin and sunglasses storage; sun visors with passenger-side vanity mirror; tilt/telescopic steering wheel; AM/FM CD with MP3/WMA playback capability, auxiliary audio jack, and satellite radio capability on Regular and Access Cabs; and satellite radio receiver pre-wire and satellite antenna on Access and Double Cabs.
Safety Features
The Star Safety System includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control with off switch, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist.
Driver and front passenger airbags with Advanced Airbag System, Driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags, active headrests, driver and front passenger seatbelts with pretensioner, force limiters and adjustable shoulder anchors, 3-point seatbelts in all front seating positions with driver-side Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) and front passenger Automatic/Emergency Locking Retractor (ALR/ELR), Child Restraint System (CRS) top tether anchors, daytime running lights and tire pressure monitoring are standard.
